Autumn has come to Bettys with the arrival of our Woodland promotion, celebrating the joy of trees and the beauty and biodiversity of our woodland habitats. The windows are full of woodland creatures and Yorkshire artist, Mark Hearld, has designed the stunning Bettys Trees for Life illustration that features on our fundraising bags.
While we have been planting and protecting trees since 1990, it is only with the help of our customers and community that we have been able to keep challenging ourselves to do more – leading to the planting of 3 million trees and donation of £1m to rainforest protection.
At Bettys we’re looking to new ways to make a difference to our local communities through trees. With help from the environmental regeneration charity, Groundwork, we’re working with children in Yorkshire schools to nurture seeds gathered from native British species and plant 3,000 trees locally in the first year.
We’re also pairing up with Hagge Woods Trust to support a 25–acre woodland near York that provides a haven for nature and biodiversity.
And, working with the Royal Horticultural Society we are helping to create a ‘Trees for Life’ wood at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, which will bring to life how trees and woodland has been and continues to be vital for people and planet.
